JUSTIN PHELPS
Justin won the National Public Golf Courses Championship at Woodhall Spa in early September with scores of 77 and 69.
He also won the Mickey Rowe at West Middlesex on Saturday 29th September with scores of 69 and 66.
DAVID GINN WINS THE BULGARIAN OPEN
David Ginn of Sudbury won the Bulgarian Open at the Sofia Golf and Country Club. Club mates Tommy King and Daniel Jefferies finnished second and third respectively when the tournament was reduced to 36 holes because of a thunder storm.

Wyke Green win the Middlesex Sixes
Wyke Green won the Middlesex Sixes Final at Muswell Hill on Sunday 16th September defeating Whitewebbs G C , Enfield, by two matches to one.
John Burgon managed a par at the second extra hole to give Wyke Green victory in the deciding match.

Wyke Green win the Presidents' Foursomes
Wyke Green added the Presidents' Foursomes title to the Middlesex Sixes by defeating Muswell Hill by three matches to nil at Hendon.
The three matches had been very close until the 16th when the Wyke Green players were able to hold their nerve and with the help of County players Danny Coughlan, Steve Cronin and Tim Owers closed out the match.

Andrew Johnston plays for England in Canada
Andrew Johnston of North Middlesex Golf Club has been selected to represent England in two international tournaments in Canada from the 13th to 20th September.
Andrew has had a very successful season and was the leading GB and Ireland player in the Jack Leglise Trophy competition against the rest of the Continent of Europe.

David Ginn wins the George Gowland Salver
David Ginn of Sudbury proved too strong for the battling Sufian Dhaduk of Mill Hill in the final of the George Gowland Salver winning by 3 and 2.
Sufian had proved to be the suprise winner of the semi-finalists by defeating the formidable Luke Goddard on the 18th with a birdie three, while Scott Newton of Ealing took David Ginn all the way losing only to a birdie three on the first extra hole.

Noel Johnston Memorial Day
Family and golfing friends of the late Noel Johnston celebrated his birthday at North Middlesex Golf Club on the 6th September with the inaugural Memorial Trophy.
18 teams of four took part and Phil and James Jenkins plus Adam and Damian Webb were the winners with 92 points.

Muswell Hill wins The Frank Rowse Trophy
Muswell Hill won The Frank Rowse Trophy for the first time by defeating Bush Hill Park by 7.1/2 matches to 4.1/2 at Finchley on Sunday 9th September.
The morning foursomes were won by Muswell Hill by 3 matches to 1 and when they took 3.1/2 points out of the first four matches in the afternoon, the Trophy was theirs.

Wyke Green will play Muswell Hill in the final of the Presidents' Foursomes on Sunday 16th September at 14:30 at Hendon Golf Club.

Middlesex Sixes Final
Whitewebbs defeated Harefield Place by 2 matches to 1 to reach the Final for the first time. Wyke Geen defeated Bush Hill Park by the same score to reach the final for the second year in a row.
The Final will take place on 16th September at 14:00 at Muswell Hill Golf Club.

Following a great win against BB&O at Hendon, the first league win for six years, the Middlesex first team play Hertfordshire at Wyke green in the final match of the 2007 season.

Tommy King of Sudbury held off a second round rally by Luke Goddard to win the Middlesex Youth Championship.
Tommy wins Youth Championship for the second time and adds it to the Junior Championship he won at Grim's Dyke Golf Club in May.

EGU Gold Medal Qualifier
Marc Kuber of Hendon won the EGU Gold Medal qualifier at Northwood and with his team mate David Taylor he finished second in the Coronation Bowl.

Middlesex Seniors defeat BB&O at the Berkshire
Middlesex Seniors defeated BB&O at the Berkshire G C by 5 1/2 matches to 4 1/2. There were wins for Win Ellis, Joao Texieria, Mike Willcox and Captain Bruce Hurley and important halves from Barry Comben of Fulwell on his debut, Henry Webster of Mill Hill and Ian Fulda of Sudbury.

Howard Marshall wins Seniors' Championship
Howard Marshall of Mill Hill won the Middlesex Seniors' Championship at his home course with two superb rounds of 74 in very difficult and bloustery conditions. He was followed home by his club mates Mike Willcox on 153 and Tom Powell on 154 to make it a one, two, three for the Mill Hill club.

Middlesex Youth gain a great victory over BB & O
The Middlesex Youth Team came from 3 - 1 down in the morning foursomes to snatch victory by half a point, winning five and a half matches in the afternoon singles. Luke Goddard managed to win one up in the top singles but the real star of the fight back was Richard Grun of Northwood who was four under par when he won 9 and 7. Steve Cronin of Wyke Green, Scott Fallon of Hendon, Daniel Kneafsey of Sudbury all weighed in with important victories. However it was left to 15 year old Antony Ginn of Sudbury to clinch victory when he halved his match having been two down early on. Manager Eamon Kneafsey of Sudbury said that it had been a great all round performance that he was very encouraged by the fighing qualities of the team.

M C G U Captains Meeting
Brian Hoey of Ashford Manor won the inaugural MCGU Captain's Meeting at Ealing. A total of 66 players attended the 1st meeting of the MCGU Captains, Past Captains and General Managers. The course was in excellent condition and Greg Evans the Head Greenkeeper of Ealing G C made sure that the players would remember the speed of the greens for months to come. Justin Phelps of Ruislip won his second Middlesex title at Pinner Hill with a 1 up win over David Ginn of Sudbury.

Ruislip Boys win their way to National Finals
Ruilip Golf Club represented by Liam Ainsworth, Dale Collinson and Jack Yarrow won the Middlesex Boys Team Championship run in conjunction with the Middlesex Boys Championship. Liam and Jack also won the 36 holes nett prizes in their respective age groups to win the overall championship with a total of 397, 17under par, from Stamore who were second with 418.
Ruislip will now represent Middlesex in the National Junior Team Championships at Spalding Golf Club on 20/21 of October.

Tommy King reigns supreme for the second time.
Tommy King of Sudbury won the Middlesex Boys Championship for the second time at Grim''s Dyke Golf Club with two superb rounds of 68 and 66 in very trying conditions. He was followed home by Spencer Davis of Bush Hill Park with 68 , 70 and David Ryan of Ealing showed that he fast improving with two steady rounds of 71 and 69 to finnish third overall.

Middlesex Youth v Hertfordshire
The Middlesex Youth team opened its season with a match against Hertfordshire at West Herts on Saturday 12th May. Dan Kneafsey had to withdraw through injury and with Andrew Johnston on international duty the Middlesex team were defeated by 7 1/2 points to 4 1/2 points. Luke Goddard and James Clarke were the only winners in the morning foursomes; Luke and new boy Anthony Ginn of Sudbury had wins in the afternoon singles and Daniel Jerfferies and Sufian Dhaduk gaining exciting halved matches.

Richard Grun sets a new Northwood course record
Richard Grun, a member of the Middlesex Youth side set a new course record in the Northwood Golf Club, May Bank Holiday medal with a great 67. Richard was 5 handicap this time last year but with hard work on the driving range at Northwick Park and a fitness programme which includes yoga, he is now only 0.1 from being a scratch golfer.

Andy and Luke finish high up in the Lytham Trophy.
Andrew Johnston of North Middlesex and Luke Goddard of Hendon finished 11th and 12th repectively in this prestigious event. Luke opened up with rounds of 73 and 69 and Andrew with 71 and 75 just made the qualifying mark. However Andrew showed real fighting qualities and covered the remaining 36 holes in 143 and moved rapidly up the field. Luke kept up with the leaders with an excellent third round of 71 but unfortunately faded in the 4th round with a disappointing 79.
Andrew is off to Wales this coming weekend with the England Boys Team while Luke will be leading the Middlesex Youth side on Saturday 12th May against Hertfordshire at West Herts Golf Club, Croxley Green, Watford.

Andrew Johnston finishes 2nd in the McEvoy Trophy
Andrew Johnston of North Middlesex finished second in the Peter McEvoy Trophy at Copt Heath Golf Club with a total of 281, four behind the winner Matt Haines of Rochester and Cobham. Pavan Sagoo wins the MCGU U13 Championship
Eleven year old Pavan Sagoo of Ealing won the Middlesex Under 13 Junior Championship at Hampstead Golf Club on 5th April with a score of 79 from a field of 21 players.

2nd Half Term Coaching Day at Northwick Park.
Ruislip Boys find Powerplay Golf to their liking. Joe Mannick of Ruislip scored a fantastic 34 points for 9 holes in the first playing of Powerplay Golf by Middlesex junior players at the half term coaching day. Chris Chatters (Ruislip), Robbie White (Ealing) and Liam Ainsworth (Ruislip) finished joint second with 30 points each.

MCGU Annual Dinner 2007
The Annual Dinner of the Union was held at Ealing Golf Club on Friday 26th January and 179 members and guests sat down to an excellent meal and were entertained with speeches from the President of the EGU, Donald Steel, Mr Mal Nally, guest speaker and the President of the MCGU, Mr Geoff Karet.

MCGU AGM 2007
The Annual General Meeting of the Union took place at Northwick Park Golf Centre on Tuesaday 23rd January. Dr Dennis Walker of Grim's Dyke Golf Club was elected President. Neil Jennings (Ruislip), Keith Fitzgerald (Fulwell), Malcolm Wadsworth (Ashford Manor) and Irving Walker (Pinner Hill) were elected to the Executive Committee of the Union.

February Half Term Coaching Days at Northwick Park
The MCGU, in conjunction with the Management of Northwick Park and Premium Golf, are organising three coaching days for junior golfers in the February half-term holidays. The dates are 15th, 20th and 22nd of February. The days will consist of coaching on the range and short game facility, a round of a new golfing game called Powergolf and talks on golf improvement softwear, golf as a career and advice on golf club selection. All junior organisers have been sent infomation and application forms about the above.

Coaching for Juniors at Northwick Park, Harrow
In 2007 the MCGU is organising a series of coaching evenings and days for juniors (under 18) of affliated golf clubs at Northwick Park Golf Centre. The Juniors of Bush Hill Park, North Middlesex, Northwood and Pinner Hill have already visited the centre and the evenings are proving to be a great success. It is hoped that by April all Middlesex clubs will have visited this great facility. Andy Williams, the County Secretary, will be contacting all club junior organisers who returned a list of juniors to him to arrange an evening for their respective junior squads to visit the centre.

Robert Watkins 1st Team Player of 2006
Robert Watkins of Bush Hill Park is the 1st Team player of 2006 with the most points scored in league matches against Herts, Beds, Essex and BB&O. Robert, who has + 1 handicap, has decided to turn professional in 2007 and will be trusting his skills on local tour events. We wish him well in his future career.

Luke Goddard selected for the EGU U21 Elite Squad
Luke Goddard of Hendon has been selected to join the U21 Elite Squad of the EGU. He starts his 2007 playing season with the Portugese Amateur in early February and the Spanish Amateur in early March. All Middlesex is behind you Luke - go for it!

David Ginn is the Youth player of 2006
David Ginn of Sudbury has added the Youth Player of 2006 to his Junior Order of Merit title. David has improved his playing handicap to scratch during 2006 and he is looking forward to moving up to the next level in 2007. County Coach, Neil Jordan predicts a bright future for this quiet and unassuming young man.
